It covers the processes of collecting, organising, analysing, storing and retrieving, processing, transmitting and receiving, and displaying, as well as the technologies that support them. In the Year 11 IPT course a student describes the nature of information processes and information technology and classifies the functions and operations of information processes and information technology. The Software Design and Development course at year 12 assists students to develop creativity, knowledge, values and communication skills required to produce computer programs. The subject provides students with a systematic approach to problem-solving, an opportunity to be creative, excellent career prospects and interesting content. Software development is a distinctive field within the Computing discipline. In the 11 SDD course the students will develop a knowledge and understanding about how software solutions utilise and interact with other elements of computer systems. Information and Software Technology is a course where students will be given opportunities to build on information and communication technology (ICT) skills, when using and integrating application programs and hardware devices throughout the course. Through approaches such as modelling and prototyping, and other student-centred activities, students will develop knowledge and understanding of both practical and theoretical concepts of the course through the completion of projects. The study of Information and Software Technology Years 9 assists students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to solve problems in real life contexts. Through experiential and collaborative tasks, students engage in processes of analysing, designing, producing, testing, documenting, implementing and evaluating information and software technology-based solutions.
