The Information Processes and Technology course at year 12 assists students teaches students about information-based systems. It covers the processes of collecting, organising, analysing, storing and retrieving, processing, transmitting and receiving, and displaying, as well as the technologies that support them.

In the Year 11 IPT course a student describes the nature of information processes and information technology and classifies the functions and operations of information processes and information technology.

The Software Design and Development course at year 12 assists students to develop creativity, knowledge, values and communication skills required to produce computer programs. The subject provides students with a systematic approach to problem-solving, an opportunity to be creative, excellent career prospects and interesting content. Software development is a distinctive field within the Computing discipline.

Information and Software Technology  is a course where students will be given opportunities to build on information and communication technology (ICT) skills, when using and integrating application programs and hardware devices throughout the course. Through approaches such as modelling and prototyping, and other student-centred activities, students will develop knowledge and understanding of both practical and theoretical concepts of the course through the completion of projects.

The study of Information and Software Technology Years 9 assists students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to solve problems in real life contexts. Through experiential and collaborative tasks, students engage in processes of analysing, designing, producing, testing, documenting, implementing and evaluating information and software technology-based solutions. Creative, critical and meta-cognitive thinking skills are developed through students’ practical involvement in projects.

The course is a foundation course that will form a base to build upon in the HSC course. Students will be given tasks to attempt, many of which are voluntary, but all could be used to assist the students prior to an examination.

A plan of work that is to be attempted during the year. It will assist the students identify when tasks are due, the type of task due and review work that will assist them prior to examinations.

Some of the tasks are designed to be downloaded, completed and then emailed to their teacher.

A plan and organisation scheme for the whole of year 8. There will be quiz items, review sheets and assessment tasks to be completed.

Some of the worksheets are designed to be completed at home and then sent to the teacher for review.

The course endeavours to relate the chemical industry with the uses made of these chemicals by society and their presence and role in the student's everyday life.
